I think that at 10 months old your child should be able to play in a play pen while you do the house work, but there are lots of carriers you can buy also you could buy a baby swing which plays music also has toys attached to it and while you do the house work your child will be amused plus you could time your house work for when your child has nap.
Other than what i have put down there are quiet allot of things you can to for your child while you do your work.
I'm a childminder and look after two children under the age of 1 and also have two children i have to take and pick up from school plus i have my own children who are nearly 2 years and the older one is 4. You can manage you just have to find out which way best suits you

Get a sling, wrap, front carrier or a baby backpack to wear the baby in.

Fold laundry sitting in the floor so the baby can crawl around the floor and play while you work. Let baby play in the laundry basket while you're folding stuff.

Put baby in the high chair with a snack while you do dishes or cook.

For a ten month old, I'd get an Ergo Baby Carrier... can be used as a front, back and hip carrier. My son could occupy himself at 10 months old, but there were days he wouldn't, and the Ergo (and other carriers) saved us. I feel that babies learn more when they are up with you, participating in what you do, plus, they stay happy when they are with you, so it's a double bonus in my book. I got my Ergo from http://store.attachedtobaby.com/SearchResult.aspx?manufacturer=33. There are tons of carriers available on that site, check them all out to see what you like the best.

If you want to hold your baby while doing your housework, get one of those baby backpacks like Justin above has said. But if I were you, I'd get a playpen and place the pen where you can see and let your baby play around in there. Your baby gets a little exercise or sleep while you get your chores done (without the extra weight).

A 10 month old should be able to entertain themselves. Try playpen training her or getting an exasaucer. These things are lifesavers. Not to mention, it will save you a lot of back pain in the future.

You can buy one of the snugglies (like a backpack) but a 10 month old should be able to amuse themselves while you are doing housework. Just keep them close by and talk to them. You shouldn't have to be carrying them everywhere like that.

Get a baby swing. Have the baby swing near wear you are. Talk to your baby or sing while doing dishes and etc. Babies are easily amused at this age and so on.

this is my opinion, take it at that, but a ten month old should be able to entertain him/her self while you do your chores. I have two children, a three year old and a thirteen month old and they always play with their toys while I get the chores done. If you are very insistent on holding your child at every moment then you can get a carrier that hooks to you, but keep in mind it can be dangerous to do chores while holding your child. You might not think that dish water is that hot but to little hands it might be scalding, and children love to reach for everything. This is a good time for you child to learn to keep him/her self busy, or when he/she gets older they will bore easily if not constantly entertained. ( I know from experience. ) Good luck mommy.
