Nice try little lady, but in those years the Kawasaki cop bikes were not designated by a "P" on the end, that didnt happen until the 90s. They were C1 C2 and C3 depending on year and size. They were however Kawasaki's on the show and at first they were 900 later moving to the 1000.

They look like Harleys but were actually Kawasaki z1000 Californians made especially for the Califonia Highway patrol at the time.
In many ways they did look like the electra glide and were fashioned that way but they were not harleys.
I enjoyed CHiPs, first time around. I apperently it has never been off the air since it was made , according to eric estrada ( Ponch) who now runs a very lucrative real estsate development company.
Good on ya mate for your question , bought back some good memories.

The motor officers in "CHiPs" drive Kawasaki KZ-900P and KZ-1000P motorcycles. Ponch almost won the street model (a 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R) on a game show in "Name Your Price".
In "CHiPs '99", the CHP uses new BMW RT-1100P motorcycles.

Police motorcycles are usually one of three bikes:
Harley 1200 Vtwins
Kawasaki 1000
There is a new BMW that is the police favorite. They seem to say that they hate the harley.

Up til last year (2005) Kawasaki still listed the Z1000P for sale to police forces dont know if its been listed this year?

that sad old show wrecked a lot of nice bikes, i stopped watching when i saw a Moto Guzi 750 Ambassador take out a phone booth.
