Do a google search for "handblown nug jar" I think you'll find what you're looking for. You can probably even get a glassblower to custom make one for you if you see something you "almost" like on thier website...best of luck!

There are some very cute 1-cup size canning jars (at least in the States, and we can find plain little canning jars in Japan). Try to find out where the old ladies who can do their shopping, and see if there's anything there. Canning jars are great because you can get the herbs out.

You could also throw out your old, store-bought herbs and wash the jars.

Although, you might be better off storing herbs in dark jars -- either brown jars (I've used the jars from breadmaker yeast), or wrap a label around the jar, or store the jars in a dark cupboard. Light makes the herbs deteriorate faster.

When I was building my kitchen canister collection, I bought jar candles exclusively. After they were burned down, I cleaned them out and now have a very attractive canister set for my kitchen. That approach should work for you and you can get jar candles that are much smaller than what I use. In case you are wondering, they do come with plastic cork type tops.
