Actually, how about "mentioned herein"? There are more search engine results to the term "mentioned herein" than "mentioned therein", which makes me wonder whether that would be a better choice here.

Use "therein." You're referring to something within the article and not to the article itself.

"Mentioned therein"-- you don't mention something of an article here, you mention something in the article.
