Absolutely, but another, and more important part of being friends is knowing when NOT to rag someone. I will never forget my ex's dad raggind me about something I did that I got hurt because of, but if I hadn't have done it I would have gotten hurt worse. I was embarrassed, which was prolly left over adrenaline from the fear of the bigger hurt. Needless to say, I never found it funny.
I've done the same to others on occasion, not realizing, and have hurt them.
Sometimes in friendship it is a fine line, but your friends know how to read you before they put their fun in front of your feelings.

People with similar senses of humor tend to become friends, but sometimes this is not the case and people have to be sensitive to what the other person is going to feel if you 'rip on' them.
Sure it is very common for friends to give each other crap in fun, but if they say things that are truly hurtful then that is uncool.

Yes, and it can get quite hurtful at times. If that is what makes themselves feel better. It makes you think what kind of friendship you have with the person. The funny things is one thing, but when they go to far, that is what hurts. A true friend won't do that to you and true friendships are hard to find.
