i believe there are only 4 types of bones. Flat Bones, Irregular bones, long bones and short bones.

Well, all bones contain marrow at some point.

Typically you will see bones divided into long bones and flat bones. When I learned histology, I was taught that all bones histologically, are one or the other. However, I know that there are different types of bone formation- most are cartilage replacement, but there are some that are termed as membranous bone (clavicle, for example)

That said, there are classically four types-

1. Long - femur, humerus, etc...
2. Short - metatarsals and metacarpals
3. Flat - Face bones, your sternum
4. Irregular- Actually formed by fused flat bones. The ishium and parts of the pelvis qualify.

there are only two types of bone . cancellous or trabecular bone and compact or ivory bone, if you question is innocent enough
