It never fails. It doesn't happen right away, but whenever i am using any of front panel USB ports my desktop crashes within 5 minutes or so. Sometimes its just causes my USB mouse to stop working. Sometimes the whole computer freezes up. I usually just use the USB ports for my flash drive.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Another thing that happens that might be related is that when i plug in headphones to the headphone jack, me speakers turn off (which they should). The problem is they never turn back on when I take out the headphones. I have to leave the headphones halfway in for the speakers to work.

sounds like component(inside electronic) problems ie:loose connections/damaged circuit board, rather than hardware /drivers,also make sure your power supply/source is earthed.ie:unearthed extension lead to a earthed supply is wrong3 wire-2-wire-earthed supplyX 3-3-EARTHED SUPPLY.or earth the pc independently .earth the pc via a copper wire to a grounded metal/lead object via the many screwa and bolts at the back of your pc,not hot water pipe(scratch paint off metal both ends of connection/pc-pipe)before attaching earth wire-pc-grounded source

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
