Gestational Diabetes is one that is diagnosed through a blood test later on the pregnanct - I believe I had my blood test at about 30 weeks. Fortunately I was not diagnosed with the condition, however if you are sometimes you need to start taking medication or doing daily injections. Unfortunately there are no real ways of knowing if you are prone to gestational diabetes from my understanding.

The other thing is pre eclampsia - This one is slightly more nasty. There is no period in particular at which it is detected from my knowledge, however it normally develops in the later months of pregnancy. I have pasted a link into this post so you can read more, it says that after 20 weeks it is very important to attend all of your appointments so that you can be checked for preeclampsia signs regularly.

Some symtpoms of it include high blood pressure, swelling, sudden weight gain, vision becomes blurred, headache, and nausea.

For more information I would recommend checking out some pregnancy websites or asking your doctor for more detailed information.

Keep in mind most pregnancies progress smoothly and without these kinds of complications - mine being an example (currently 38 weeks pregnant).

If you are looking at having an abortion because you are concerned about developing one of these conditions I would definitely recommend talking it over with your doctor, but of course the final descision is up to you!

Good Luck!
