We don't want to have one computer stationary and i have a Netgear wireless router, and want to know how to hook up wireless so that we don't have to have a main computer and can just run the internet through wireless.

you will have to any ways use one of your laptops as main computer, at the time of configuring the router, and then the router will function independantly without the main computer , but what i would advise you is while choosing a computer to do the configuration make sure you choose one which is used frequently, so if something goes wrong you always have the possibilities of repairing / trouple shooting it

I haven't set up the netgear before, but you should do the initial configuration while hard-wired into the device. Once that's done, you don't need to have a "main" computer. The device will control the connection to the internet and any/all computers can work independantly of each other.

it all depends on what kind of internet connection you have, as long its not dial up, you dont need a stationary computer, the router is a stand alone device. just configure the router according to your ISP and enable NAT. configure your wireless settings on the laptops and it should work
