here is an idea why do you not make cookies and other food gifts to take to the party no one would expect a gift such as this and you would be the one who i bet everyone will like and i bet that you could find someone to make the cookies for you or even spend a couple of bucks for some cookies at the store and it would be cool

I personally would commit murder to have a $50 gift certificate to Blockbuster, but that is me, and not very original.
Are these people of drinking age? Try a drink themed basket. Go buy a sturdy basket, and pick a drink your group likes. For example, a margarita basket. You would buy a couple margarita glasses, some salt for the rim, a mixer, and the tequilla. Dress it up with some mexican party favor, or some plastic chilli peppers, or some taco chips and salsa. Maybe some mexican coctail napkins, go with cute or silly. One tequilla, two tequila, three tequilla, floor! Or a jar of jalopena peppers. Try a party store, they might have a mini sombrero, something. Put a big red and green and white bow on it, and buy some celophane, or some shrink wrap for it. Or not.
You can buy real glass glasses, or the disposable one's, if you fear they might get crunched.
Or a night in front of the fire kit: cheap cocoa mug[s], different kinds of cocoa, tiny marshmallows, a cheap fleece blanket{Wal-mart, $7], an a appropriate snack, maybe a box of graham crackers, some Hershey bars, and big marshmallows, for Somemores! Match the blanket to the mug, try for Xmas colors.
Or a candy basket. Small boxes of every kind of chocolate candy you can think of. Wal-mart, chocolate covered cherries, $1.Buy boxes, and sacks, or some bars of gourmet choclate, and put on top some of those individually wrapped candies like Russell Stover marshmallow Santas, and the maple and strawberry creme candy.. Try Walgreens, they have a good selection, but they are generally higher priced. Buy a sack of Starlight mints, and put them in lose around the other candy.
One more, go to Figis.com, and order, or copy one of their gifts, using stuff from the grocery store. You might have to make arrangements with the hostess to put it in her refrigerator. Cheese, crackers, summer sausage, cheese spread, small box of candy, cheese board, spreading knife.Whatever you choose.
Coffee and/or tea basket, with appropriate snacks for each.
Good luck, Merry Christmas.
