That friend of mine is a genius and I just don't really like it whenever he says that only fools would have the passion for football.Maybe he is refering to me,a football fan who is not a genius like him.How do I tell him to pay a little bit of respect to what others like? I can't stand listening to him babbling about what a bad sports football is.And what's worst,he also criticizes my favourite player,Pavel Nedved and my favourite football club ever,FC Barcelona. His words really hurt any football fan..=(

i know this is hard to do but try also to learn to respect his opinion about football much as you'd like him to respect your obvious passion for it. we can't all be alike and to always choose your friends based on how you agree on the same things isn't good for you. it's boring. every time he starts on his football bashing, try to engage him in a healthy debate. geniuses love to hear themselves talk, and this way you might also understand why he dislikes the game so much. read up and flaunt your own knowledge. heck, give him a dose of slate.com. i'm sure he'll relate, lol. just be sure to state your opinions politely. don't sweat it if he can't be convinced. it's his loss anyway. just continue with your enjoyment of the game and if his constant ribbing annoys/hurts you that much, tell him how you feel. if after that he continues to criticize, guess you'll just have accept the fact that your friend is a jerk so if i were you, i wouldn't waste even a sec of my time on him.

Hi there, nice to see you again. Have you thought that perhaps being a genius and being so used to having everyone in awe of him, he may feel insecure in your knowledge of the sport or that football is the one subject he does not or can not master. Perhaps they are a little envious that you have something to be passionate about at all. It's not uncommon for those with super human intelligence to place sport or anything they deem unintelligent as a trivial issue or to have no interests or friends to share them with. All you can do if you value this friendship is explain how you feel and that mutual respect for each other irrespective of your levels of intelligence and support of each other and your differences is the beginnings of a good human being and lasting friendship. If they cannot see nor accept that, sadly your alternatives are to look for a more equal and satisfying friendship or simply accept they are not going to change and put up with it. Good luck though, it's always difficult to be in a situation like this.

just forget about what he said thats just his opinion after all i love football and so do all the other great users on this forum - its a great sport - this friend of yours doesn't sound like a genius to me sounds more like a guy that needs to get a life outside of school and work and have some fun - maybe if he tried playing football or watching it and supporting a team he would also develop a passion for it - just forget about what he said only a fool would judge somebody like that!!

Tell him, "Football has the longest and richest history in Sports and there's nothing you can say to beat that or to change the fact."

Only fools will go around criticizing other people's interests and it shows that they are so unlearnt. Ignore his words though, why let it affect you and I'm sure any other football fans should not even give a look at him.

Ignore him. Everybody is passionate about different things, and if your friend is such a genius then he should know that and know how to respect what you enjoy. Just make sure you don't let him spoil your love for football =) If he doesn't stop then tell him how you feel...he might not actually know that it bothers you that much

Somewhere he feels inadequate when he is around you ,and the only way for him to deal with that, genius or not, is by belittling you, it makes him feel bigger. There are many human emotions that are not controlled by the higher brain and are forcibly just an inborn pattern.

Hey, here I am, a footy friend telling you to keep loving that sport.

Well , u said he is a genius .SO i guess he is just feeling envious that he dosnt noe much about football. So maybe is is trying to make u feel inferior coz he thinks too much of himself.I think u should make him watch a few good matches and teach him the rules of the game.He might himself turn to become a football fan.If it doesnt work, try ignoring him.

Just an notion ...If you learn the bible & research it ,you could be competent to inform them proper off that he used to be wrong.Remember devil even attempted to mis-quote scripture to Jesus.Good factor He knew bigger.Sorry simply looking to say its fundamental in any other case any individual would come alongside and speak you proper from your religion. No in which that i do know of does it say Paul ate beef.Paul had a imaginative and prescient where he used to be advised to "kill and devour"(un-blank animals) however Paul mentioned"certainly not,I have certainly not ate some thing un-blank".The answer used to be"do not name what i've mentioned used to be blank, un-blank".At that point the sheet of un-blank animals used to be REMOVED.he certainly not killed an ate.God used to be no longer speakme approximately meals he used to be speakme of the gentiles.

Sounds like he is just trying to get on your nerves and force an argument. If you don't like it, find someone else to hang out with. If you don't want to find someone else to hang out with and avoid Mr. Genius, then just deal with it.

Perhaps he is jealous of you and wants to make you feel inferior to him on some level...
