About the Opportunity
We're looking for an attorney who is interested in long-range career growth, is self-motivated and has the strategic ability to plan for his or her professional future. We offer significant opportunities for growth and career development. You'll be working with a group of attorneys based in both the U.S. and China, focused on business development and client service, primarily for U.S. based manufacturing clients, doing business transactions, intellectual property protection and dispute resolution. You would be part of an initiative to expand and deepen the existing China practice, with a focus on business practice in Beijing, China. Initial responsibilities would include research and writing, document drafting, some management of client responsibilities, legal assistants and translations. The position is in Beijing, China, and is a partnership track position.


Qualifications

Required

Applicant must have U.S. J.D. with excellent academic credentials, admitted to a U.S. bar and with Chinese law degree; (Will consider U.S. J.D., admitted to U.S. bar, coupled with extensive academic or work experience in China).

Fluent in Mandarin and English.


3-4 years minimum experience related to doing business in China. Experience with a U.S. law firm or corporate law department required.

Preferred

Ability to develop business and maintain relationships with business associates from different cultures and backgrounds. Experience in commercial law, including contracts, tax, corporation and enterprise law, trade regulations, bankruptcy. Knowledge of intellectual property law. Familiarity with issues of U.S. compliance, such as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Sarbanes-Oxley,Export Control Regulations. Proficiency in domestic and international dispute resolution at intermediate level (drafting of complaints, petitions, discovery requests, experience arguing motions and taking depositions).
