Yeah I would take the job knowing that I would get fired soon but even a little money would help.. First is your husband on short term disability? If not he needs to apply.
Second you can do a couple things to improve your situation. Apply for help from the government. Get on food stamps, apply for section 8 if you have no housing, get free daycare while you're working or in school etc. If your pride is balking at this you need to consider your children. Then after that apply at the local community college. Get financial aide Couple thousand in Pell Grants and then the rest in loans. when I attended college full time in the mid 90's full time student received around 7000 freshman year. Money will be tight for a few years but after you receive a degree and get a better job your families quality of life will be much better.

I would sign up to an employment agency. They would find me work, and if only temporary, at least I would be getting an income, and in some cases, if the employer likes my work, I may be offered full time employment. Also, with agency work, if you don't like any of the work they offer you, they will always offer an alternative, so you can find what you really like and want to do by trial and error. As for telemarketing jobs, they are mostly commission based, hence the daily target, so even if the employer is a charitable organisation, it is still a hard sell and no real job security.

If it's the only think I can get I take it. but I would be searching Adecco Kelleys or manpower first. They have jobs that pay better and they are world wide and they are temp agencies. They can get you jobs with little or no experience. This is why it is so important for women to get schooling and have a marketable skill even if it's knowing a mircosoft office suite so they can do something incase something happens. My dad walked out on my mom and she had her dental hygene degree to fall back on. We were very lucky in that respect. If my husband had an accident I could go full time where I work wich is where he works and we might make it but I'd have to work alot. I really should go back to school and get a marketable skill.

well i'd try it out and if you get fired you still get a paycheck for what you did work and since it's charity people are more willing to give you their money. so maybe you'll make the 500 a day requirement
