I don't have a car I'm wanting to make a hybrid of, I'm just curious.

Ultimately, yes, but it would cost you more than a brand new hybrid and would never work quite as well.

We have a guy round here with a battery powered VW Golf, all electric, but it was a major engineering project and he didn't need to deal with the whole charge and load management thing.

Yes, it is possible. But for about 1/10 of the cost you could just go out and buy a hybrid car.

well im pretty sure ur gonna have to go through some DRASTIC modifications in doing so. i mean u can just make a GAS CAR into a HYBRID u know. u gotta move some parts around and buy/make new/more car parts. its just like saying im gonna convert my BLACK&WHITE TV into a COLOR TV.

and if ur trying to answer this question by making a gas into a hybrid then good luck buddy haha.

No, hybrid cars have an electrical system in them to save the gas.

You prob could, but the cost would out way the benefit. It would be cheaper to just buy a hybrid

no

at least not cost effectively.

It would cost you more to convert that it would to buy a brand new hybrid car. Twice as much. So forget about it.

it would be cheaper to just buy a car that is already a hybrid.

In stead of a gas engine to charge the batteries...I would employ generators to each wheel. This way as the car moves it would gharge the batteries. I would also use solar cells attached to the hood roof and trunk. Just my input.

Absolutely! The problem is that the cost is astronomical for all the refitting.
