nothing serious will happen to your eyes...i used to go swimming all the time, and i had a habit of opening my eyes underwater...i'd always go home with bloodshot eyes til' the next day...my eyes are still great and most people call me eagle eyes, lol...to clear your eyes out, just use visine, or get a warm washcloth and hold it on your eyes for a while...it'll ease it up a little.....:)

My advice would be to rinse it out how others have suggested and if your eyesight becomes blurred or other effects, or your eyes begin to hurt for 2 or more days after I would recommend a possible visit to your doctor just to check it over.

In normal pool conditions chlorine will not hurt your eyes badly, but as the pool was closed it may be due to over use of chlorine so just use your judgement and if you feel something is wrong see the doctor.

Maybe that is why the pool was closed- rinse your eyes with saline solution - that will help rinse the chlorine out- and don't swim in closed pools- you don't know what other health hazards are in there-taking some benadryl may help eyes also-take care-D
