My company keeps imposing monetary penalties for even petty mistake commited during work. so, i observed that this doesn't yield better performance within the staff instead it creates sense of INSECURITY, RETALIATION, DEMOTIVATION and DEJECTEDNESS. what do you think? is it beneficial for the organisation to impose such harsh management tool wihtout real evaluation of the mistake and consequences of that mistake on the organisation? explain your point.

It is unusual - especially in larger companies. And, as you've noticed, not usually very effective.

Not only does this tend to make everyone want to leave, (and maybe you should too!), but it also creates an atmosphere where people are worried and can't trust each other - I mean, if someone else messes up but says it was you - how can you prove it?

While it is true that companies can ask to be compensated - for instance if someone makes a bunch of long distance calls, the company can charge them for it - but most companies have realized that they pay much more than that due to increased turnover (I mean, I know I'd be looking to leave!) and since employees are demoralized they tend not to be very productive.

Yes, I did study this in Employee Relation classes - no, you aren't likely to be able to change the company's culture (Unless you are the president!)

Get your resume or CV together and start looking for a new job.

Best of luck!
