In Jebel Ali, UAE (Saudi Arabia) the price of gold per gram varies daily. The way to check is to find out how much per gram for whichever carat it is (10, 14, 18, etc.) and multiply that into however many grams are in one ounce, then multiply that by ten.

In December 2005, one gram of 18-carat gold in the UAE was $15 American dollars. It had gone up some since then, so... What you are asking is for a specific answer, truth is it will be different by midnight tomorrow.

Gold is traditionally weighed in Troy Ounces (31.1035 grammes). With the density of gold at 19.32 g/cm3, a troy ounce of gold would have a volume of 1.64 cm3.

Gold is made into a large number of different bars of different weights. The most well known are the large 'London Good Delivery Bars' which are traded internationally. These weigh about 400 Troy Ounces, i.e. 12.5 kg/ 27 lbs. Each. Others are denominated in kilogrammes, grammes, troy ounces, etc. In grammes, bars range from 1 g up to 10 kg. In troy oz, from 1/10 tr.oz. up to 400 tr.oz.. Other bars include tola bars and Tael bars.

the troy ounce is what is used to weigh gold, and then it is sold at £/$ per ounce at whatever the exchange rate is at the time.
so 10 troy ounces of gold is??
at the moment it is about £325/$645 per troy ounce.
hope that this helps.
a troy ounce also weighs slightly less that a normal ounce.
