After six months, I hardly lost a pound, and it worries me being an overweight by 30 lbs for a five niner guy. My tummy is getting big as well. Would you happen to know of food habits that I can get myself into so that I trim my waistline properly? I am forbidden from getting into back exercises because of my operation.

SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY...

I got spinal surgery myself, but it was about four years ago. Anyhow, you have to walk, because since you are unable to do anything that involves your back, if you don't find something to do that DOESN'T, your entire body will get weaker, and although it might feel okay if that happens now, in another 6 months you will be aloud to get back to doing everything you would normally do, and then you'll feel how much not moving around has affected you. (in the form of very sour muscles) Trust me, it's not pleasant.
Anyhow, the walking will also help rid you of body fat.
Other than you, you have to watch your diet. Make sure you aren't eating anything that is clearly bad for you (i.e. hamburgers, pizza, etc) because this kind of food will do absolutely nothing for your body, except keep those pounds there.
You need to eat more vegetables and fruits as well.
Once you've done all this, you should start seeing results.

Good luck, and feel better.

You did not say but I can assume you are not bed ridden. So you should be walking miles a day. Get a pedometer and start slow and work your way up to 10,000 or more steps a day.

On the food side, more fuit and vegatable and way less meat and sugar.
