Leaders are made. No question about it. If you go out into the streets and you see a group of people, there is one that will stand out and is silently chosen by the rest of the group as "the leader." At least in the streets, "the leader" is whoever the strongest willed person is in that group. The only way to test the will of that person was based on past experiences, IN HIS LIFE - not in his mother's stomach.

I believe it is possible for leaders to be born. Some people have a knack for taking charge and it started in the sand box.
As far as leaders being made, the military for example creates them on a daily basis. College in some instances does as well.
The ability to lead is an art. I believe the old saying is true, "A good leader was once a good follower." I was mentored by a few great people and I owe a lot of my success to those few that took the time to show me the path to greatness.
On a lessor note, being a good leader relies on experience. I have coached many different sports and have produced an excellent winning record, but my training came from being a coachable player.

Leaders are made. If leaders were all born, management schools and leadership courses like Westpoint wouldn't exist. Fortune 500 companies would immediately promote born leaders to managment without any experience. Since this is not the case, leadership must be learned.

I believe leaders are made but we are all born with something in us that tells us what kind of leader we are. There are different types of leaders like autocratic and participative and all that path goal theory leader stuff. I think a lot of who u r comes from ur enviroment so that can help determine what kind of leader u will become.

I believe that they are made. But most of the making must come when they are very young.
I also believe that it's not necessarily good to be a leader. I would not want to be one all the time. There's too much responsibility, and it will ruin your health.

I just saw something on tv a few weeks ago claiming that some people have something in their genepool that makes them born leaders. Alot of them must have something that makes them born bad leaders.
