It really depends on what information you need....there are many places to go, depending on the type of information needed.....if its general knowledge, a library or the internet are good places to go.....about carsmotorbikes/boats/planes...ask a mechanic....health issues...ask a doctor

what kind of information are you looking for?? if it is for a scholarly paper wikipedia is definitely the WORST place to look and cite because anyone can sign on and put anything they want up on the site. If you are looking for good scholarly stuff. local colleges have great search engines for scholarly journals and articles. you can start there.
if you are just looking for genereal search items Google is a great search engine. so is Ask Jeeves or Ask.com. Yahoo search engine is alright too.

Its great to try and search for a lot of engines to get a good answer. Wiki-pedia is a great online dictionary, thesaurus, and it can let you jump from one topic to another.
ex.
Ragnarok Online>Knight Character>War>Blood>AIDS>Doctors
You know what I mean.
