I don't care how much happy chemicals are pumped in me, I'm already overweight and if I were to gain anymore weight I'd be depressed for sure. I'm being totally serious, as a woman this is a legitimate concern. It's the same catch 22 as birth control, take it to have sex but gain weight from it and you don't feel very sexy. No one tell me to go to the gym please, I do work out 5 days a week and have a healthy diet as well. I work hard just to maintain!

I personally love 5-HTP (it's what I use), and I would recommend 50-100 mgs per day. It did not cause any weight gain, or any of the adverse side effects normal SSRIs and MAOIs have. Another option is Wellbutrin, which did not cause any weight gain for me or my friends, also no loss of labido. However, Wellbutrin does not work with everyone's chemistry (made me really wierd). Lexapro did not cause any weight gain for me, BUT it did have side effects, most noticeable was the loss of libido.

P.S. I would not recommend an IUD until after you have a child. You could switch to hormonal birth control that gives you a lower dose, as they are just as effective and do not mess with your hormones as much.

Try not taking them. Maybe you don't really need them. The doctors give them out like candy. Try an IUD instead of birth control pills and stop using depression pills. Get something from the health food store, see if that works. Exercise, lose weight and be happy. Read a book on how to change your attitude.

maximum anti-depressants fairly suppress your urge for foodstuff. some others do the different. the two is undesirable, needless to say. Now in case you elect to shed pounds, urge for foodstuff suppression is substantial. in case you elect to construct muscle, then it is not that super. I take Welbutrion and that i actually have a topic shoving down foodstuff. it relatively is style of stressful, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's unlike i could die or something. besides, you're needless to say no longer determining wisely. Do cardio for 30-60 minutes an afternoon, consume a acceptable foodstuff ordinary, do no longer do cardio on empty (consume a million-2 hours earlier than exercising), and so on. cardio shouldn't make you sore except you're doing too a lot to your modern well being point. the two that or you're no longer stretching in the previous AND after the cardio consultation - stretching is taken into consideration necessary you already know. once you're a guy, you may cheat your self happy. IE: elevate weights making use of significant muscle tissues (chest, legs, lower back, and so on), and permit the frenzy of testosterone to do something.

Birth control and antidepressants do not necessarily cause you to gain weight. Some might, but it is highly unlikely that all do. You just need to try several until you find one that works for your body chemistry.

Good Luck!!

Wellbutrin XL has a low risk of weight gain.

I started taking it a year ago and actually lost 45 lbs, but I'm sure it is different for everyone.

Wellbutrin seems to be the most common prescribed anti depressant that doesn't cause weight gain.

Have you considerd natural anti depressants? Look into 5-HPT or Sam-E. Sam-E doesn't seem to have any side effects but 5-HPT has a couple such as nausea & flatulance.
