my cat is acting very weird. i recently brought him home. He was a stray cat. We fed him, we bought him toys, we let him sleep in our beds. My sisters and i even take turns to take care of him every night when we're suppose to be sleeping just to make sure he's happy. He meows all the time, like wanting something but i just don't understand what he wants. i tried giving him food, but he refused. Gave him toys but he lost interest in playing after awhile. Another problem with him is, he kept going to the hidden places like under the sink or near the places where the wires are. I had to carry him elsewhere to prevent danger happening to him. But as soon as i put him down, like example, at the hall, he ran as quickly as possible like as if he's running for his life. There were this day too when he was playing with his toy happily, when suddenly he stopped playing and ran quickly under the table. What's wrong with him? i need help, please. thanks a million!

Maybe he's just not familiar w/ his new surroundings yet... Maybe something startled him. Cats have much better hearing than we do. My cat would run to the door even b/f I heard a key going in to the key hole. Maybe your cat likes his privacy... Maybe he's shy... (lol...)

Edit: (sis's answer, she's a cat expert :P She's had cats ever since she was 5 & she's now 14.5 yrs old :| lol...:P) Your cat isn't used to humans cuz he grew up in the outdoors & won't feel comfortable around humans. It'll take some time. I've had a cat that has been outdoors for over a yr & when I let her inside she wasn't used to it. Be patient. He'll be a happy cat soon.

Has your stray cat been fixed. Well until that happens that's just his personality. Animals can see, smell and hear things we can't. Respect his actions and his space. Keeping him out of dangerous places is great, but let him run and do his thing. He'll come round. He may be still young also. Again, if it's a male cat, get him fixed as soon as possible. Male cat's behavior is usually marked by territorial spraying and it's not pleasant.

It sounds like he is a very insecure kitty right now. Cats naturally like high dark places They feel secure in dresser drawers, closets, under beds. Since your kitty was a stray, he may have been mistreated by the previous owner.Let him find his own security spot and try not to disturb him while he's there. continue to feed him and pet him. As he gets to know you better he will spend more time with you and less time in his secure spot. Keep in mind that cats are nocturnal. They sleep during the day and play at night.good Luck with him.

We took in a stray cat and we found that he started doing some of these things too because after a while, he didn't like being trapped and wanted to be outside again. I guess the most honest answer to "why is my cat so weird" is simple. Because he's a cat.

Stray cats take a while to adapt to life as indoor cats. They're used to living in a dangerous world, and they take a while to realize that they really are safe.

Cats have very acute senses, and when a cat is on a hair-trigger like yours is, things that you can't hear will trigger their instinct to hide.

Just be patient and let him get used to being a housecat. It will take time, but he'll adjust.

it's scared ... about people and places.

DONT bring him back when he escape.... u can try to avoid this closing dangerous places, just giving him some food, and playing with him if he likes

it should come confidential with the new place and this can take some time, but u should not force him to stay out ....

That is exactly what my cat is like and has been for years. They don't get that they are pets, what they really want is to be left alone during the day. Yea, they LOVE to hide.

The best thing to do is leave them alone as much as you can- that's hard for me to do with my cat because she's just TOO CUTE to leave alone- but if you do, they will eventually come up to you.

If he is a stray cat, perhaps he wants his freedom back. Or perhaps he belongs to another family and he misses them. If you truly think he was a stray cat and belonged to no one before yourself, I would suggest giving it time, or letting him go outside. If it was meant to be, he will come back.

It sounds like he has been mistreated by his former owner so therefore he will not trust you. You will need to have lots of patience so that you can regain his trust in humans.

Either there are spirits in your house that are freaking him out, or perhaps he has been mistreated before you found him.
