The story as I know it was 4 kids siblings the oldest boy was 10 were left by both parents at a bus or train station some where in the Pacific North West. The kids were split up and eventually adopted . How do I find any media , newspaper and or T.V coverage this must have generated. Why were the parents not found? What about extended family ? What motivated 2 people to abandoned 4 kids like that e.t.c. Ivealways been curious about the story and would like to research the subject for a possible book, novel fictious of course but any research tips would be appreciated.

The logical answer is to contact your local T.V. stations and newspapers first. They can search their archives for information. Also, contact the major network headquarters. You should be able to get that information from any affiliate.

Here's another idea. Talk to your local librarian. They are trained in obtaining information of any kind, so they will probably be an invaluable source.

Most major university libraries have newspaper archives (unfortunately much of it on microfilm or microfiche) of the NYtimes and Washington Post for those periods. If the story was big enough for them to cover it, and you know the dates of the events, scan through those first.
