How can I speed up writing my research paper? I'm so slow!?

Question

I have done plenty of research and have enough information and ideas to write more than enough for the 8 to 10 pages. But I'm just poking along like a turtle stuck in mud!
It must take me 15 minutes per sentence! What's wrong with me?!
How do you write a paper?
What am I doing wrong?

Well this may be late for this project, but in the future you might consider the tactic I use. I try to find out what writing assignments are due in a given course, and I then develop a rough draft as soon as possible. I then use the remaining time to refine the paper. When the time comes, I usually don't have anything but a quick proofread to do.
For your current situation, I think you might want to just shotgun ideas onto paper and then go back and organize and expand those ideas. It sounds like you are stressing out over the quality of the work you are doing. By getting the ideas down, you will then be able to refine them and thus produce the quantity needed.

I really hope this helps. I had the same problem with papers before I started using that tactic.

It sounds like the paper you are trying to write is on a topic that doesn't interest you. If it did, you would have had it finished in a heartbeat.
If somehow you can try to interest yourself in the topic, it might help to write itself.
If not, just keep plodding along, it will come together.

Write a quick outline.

Put in the first and last paragraph.

Put in the first sentence on all your other paragraphs.

Put in your quoted material to go along with those sentences.

Right there alone should get you half way.

Then to add more, explain why you used that material.

When you find out....let me know...my research paper is due Thursday!!! I'm so stressed out, but then I waste my time on "yahoo answers" or "myspace" and get nothing done!

tell your self it is due yesterday, so just do it as fast as possible.
