Well the topic is, "Is peer-pressure a major problem for teenagers?" And I'm having difficulty understanding the format of a 3rd speaker.

What exactly does the 3rd speaker do, and can you please give me an example? Also. How should I write my speech? =s I'm really confused about format!

the 3rd speaker usually have a job to make a conclusion from the other 2 speaker`s opinion in your team.
for example your team have 4 arguments for the topics
it is the job of the 1st and 2nd speaker to explain about that 4 arguments
and your job is to make your team arguments stronger like saying that "it is clearly that our team arguments are more relevants than the opposites arguments because bla..bla..,"(in this case you try to make your opponent`s arguments sounds weak)

and also in the debate when u say your speech dont use the word "i" or "my" but use words that represent your team such as "we" and "our team believe that...."
you just have to make a conclusion for your team arguments and later while the debate u can analyse the oppenent arguments to attack them...,

that`s the regulation i used have to for debate
hope it work for u

I may be kinda rusty in this, since it's been quite a while since my last debate.

If I remember correctly, the 3rd speaker's main job is to bring up arguments about points raised earlier by the opposing team's 2nd speaker and also to bring up new points that support your stand. For example, if one of the points brought up earlier was about the effectiveness of school counsellors in tackling this problem, then you should argue this point by saying something along the lines of teenagers not being very receptive to such methods of counselling.

I'm not sure how many speakers you have in your team, or whether this is a standard debate, but just in case you're the last speaker as well, you will need a closing speech that concludes everything that your team has brought up and also, the conclusion has to be substantial and you should reiterate your stand as well.

I didn't have to write any speeches last time though, so I'm not too sure about that. However, you should at least think over the question and write down points supporting your stand, and points that the opposing team may raise as well as arguments against these points.

Good luck for your debate!

What do you mean by "the format of a 3rd spaker"? Does that mean you're the third speaker in a series of speakers?

If you mean, a "third person" speaker, or a "third person" perspective, that means you shouldn't use the pronouns "I" (first person), or "you" (second person). You should say, "he", "she", or "one".
