Just like desktop RAM, there are many sizes and speeds.

DDR PC2100/2700/3200 and higher
SODIM 200pin
128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB

Make sure you don't get too fast or DDR2 memory. Every laptop motherboard has a maximum speed, size per slot and total supported RAM.

Respectivly, keep in mind the pc or clock speed of the ram. say the ram is DDR 2700, and your laptop will only see DDR 2100 your cool becuase the ram will clock down ( if the ram numbers are higher then your board your cool, always over size you cant miss). Now, it does not work the otherway... now DDR comes in 3 types.. DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 (not too common yet). Best thing to actually do is check your de-structions. and see.. or download this program, its a over all checker its called Aida32... its no longer being updated, but its really great, it tells you ever frickin thing about your computer, just a great program to have... go to google and you can find the link. GOOD LUCK

Actually there is 3 DDR RAM modules, and it depends on the speed the laptop will support. There is PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200. The higher ones are backwards compatible with the older ones but if you put an older one mixed with a newer one, the slowest speed will become the default. But yes it will fit on any laptop that has DDR. But please don't mix up DDR with DDR2. There is a big difference and those will not fit on a DDR slot.
