Absolutely it has a bright future! There are so many new fields of study, and if you have an interest, it is fairly easy to get an internship in biotechnology over the summer. Also, I would check into getting over to UCSF if you can, because they have the largest biotech research budget in the country. Also, if all else fails, medical schools love biotech majors, because they are trained to be both creative and analytical!

Of course they are going to have a very bright future. it has been estimated that the IT industry has reached a saturation level and will generate around 2.5mn jobs by 2010.. but it is expected that the manufacturing sector and the Biotechnology field are going to need a workforce of 9 million in India alone.
Such is going to be the demand and the growth for Biotechnology.

ABSOLUTELY!!! You can go into agricultural engineering, microbiology, any of assorted protein and biochemical analysis. They are also needed in human genome analysis, assorted types of medical testing, you can also branch into teams that are working on nanotechnology research. You'll be a kind of "jack of all trades" between biology and chemistry. Of course, I'm biased as I'm a biotech major myself.
Bioweapons, however are not a hot commodity, since they are illegal under international treaties. You can however get a job with a place like UNMC in Omaha NE, they do bioterrorism research concentrating on how to treat patients afflicted with inhaled anthrax.

Yes. Especially if you learn how to create 'designer diseases' for use in warfare.
