We are tossing around the name Dane for our baby boy due in May. Anyone have the name or know anyone with it? Do they/you have an opinion on the name? Everyone else...what do you think of Dane??

Hi. I have a 16 year old nephew named Dane - we are from New Zealand - and he really likes his name.
Initally, his parents liked the name Daniel but since it was a really common name when he was born... they wanted something a little different... so they choose Dane. My sister had read a book with a (insignificant) character named Dane.
He likes it because he hasnt met another person with the same name but its not soooo far out there that he has ever been hastled about it.
Kids will be kids... if they are going to hassle each other, they will invent a nickname. It wouldn't matter if you named him Dane or something more traditional.
I have a 19 month old named Max and another on the way. We are considering Paige for her name. I think that you know in your heart what sounds right for your baby. If you keep coming back to Dane... and Im assuming that this is the case, since you asked a question about it... go for it.
It will be a beautiful name... for your beautiful son.

I used to work with a guy named Dane. He ended being nicknamed Great Dane (like the truck and dog)

I knew brothers once named Dale and Dane. Everyone called him Great Dane and barked at him. On the other hand, his brother had no problems. I like the name Dane, it's too bad kids are so cruel.

Well i think its ok. My grandsons name is Quinton Dane+====so maybe im kind of predjudice lol. I know 2 men with that first name its different depends on your last name too.I dont like when parents do matching names like for instance Dane Chain or such.

I LOVE that name!! I am having a boy also and I wanted to name him that. I probably would have but my husband has "issues" with one syllable names. lol. But I like that name so much mostly because of the comedian Dane Cook.
Anyways.. I like it!

One of my bosses some years ago was name Dane. I always thought it was a cool name.
