You can't take away all the fears, because the fear of any one of them returning would still remain.

A person without any fear whatsoever should either be all knowing and all powerful or absolutely devoid of any desire or preference or alternatively, there should be no uncertainty at all.

Your question is totally hypothetical, no matter which way I look at it.

Therefore the hypothetical answer is that I will either become God or be dead.

Fear is not about consequences. Fear is a basic emotional sensation and response system ("feeling") initiated by an aversion to some perceived risk or threat. The key word in this is the AVERSION to the risk or threat.

To use the prior answer as a basis that fear keeps me from sticking my hand in the fire, I wholeheartedly disagree. Understanding a consequence does not mean I fear it. I can be totally unafraid of fire, and still know I shouldn't stick my hand in it.

Therefore, if you took away all of our fear, all that you would leave us is our rational mind.

With the rational mind, we can better understand the world we live in, and are LESS likely to do harm to others, as we can better understand our own ethical and moral role in this world. Many of the worlds great injustices have been on account of fear. Some examples of these off the top of my head include Terrorism or the Holocaust, which are fear of that which we do not understand.

If I could take away all my fear without changing the environment (i mean, if i would still be living in a world where there is too much to fear), I had to use my reason perfectly. Without fear, I would dare to do a lot of things which could harm me or others, therefore I had to think about every action carefully and consider the possible consequences. Having no fear is different than having no pain so I would still be capable of acting rationally in order to avoid pain (mental or physical) however, if the reason I have no fear is the result of living in a place where there is nothign to fear, then what would happen is: 'I would realize that I died and am in heaven!' :D

Not quite dear. I do not stick my hand in a hot oven because I know it will hurt. I am not afraid of being hurt but I don't enjoy it so I do not stick my hands in hot ovens.

In my opinion, any action we make that was driven by fear leads to mistakes. Many people fear death. When you fear death though, it tends to hold you back from living. People fear loosing a loved one over a mistake they made, so they will lie to that person because they fear they will not be forgiven. We believe in religion because we fear that if we don't, our afterlife will be eternal torture. If all my fears were non-existent then I think I would have a much happier life. The only thing I truly have to fear is fear itself.

there would be so much trouble and the balance of a human being's totality would deteriorate... The essence of being a person whether boy or girl will soon die.. You can never be called a person if you don't know how to feel "fear".. Fear is very essential to our life.. In God's grace he has given that feeling for positive and negative factors which would mold us into a much better personality... If you have no fear you are not following the plans of God for us. Thus, you don't fear God and everybody knows that if you don't fear God you are prone to sins..

The word take away reminds me of something similar doesn't it to you?

It reminds me of medicine because the whole of mainstream science is struggling to cure diseases by eliminating the symptoms or "taking them away", when in fact the solution is to face them and cure the real problem (the psychological one).

Same goes with fear, you can't just take them away, you have to face them so that they'll just find no reason to exist.

If you try to "take away" your fears, it means you're fearing your own fears, so you increase them by empowering their existence.

Courage is to proceed INSPITE of your fears, and then the challenge itself will trick your subconcious into thinking you're more powerful than any fear.. and over time the object of fear will disappear.

Answering the question you meant first place: If you had overcome all your fears, what would happen?

The purpose of life, which is to keep progressing spiritually will diminish. That's why it's impossible to overcome all your fears, unless you are the one; God.

How much fear? I think a little bit of fear is healthy, but too much is crippling. I'd let to get rid of at least 50% of my fears though. I think I'd be more confident.
