I want to be prepared when I cross the boarder. Will the boarder people ask for my lender's permission to take my automobile into Mexico on vacation?

Yes .... except along the border and Baja

For the car permit you must take:

1. driver's license

2. major credit card or checking account

3. letter from the lender that states that you are paying that car

4. passport or original birth certificate

to drive into mexico like a border town you will just need your own personal documents, i think your insurance should cover upto 30 km in mexico, if you will need to go farther than 30 km into mexico you will need to get a permit for your car its like 32 usd make sure you take cars title, your documents and a credit card because if you will want to pay in cash youll need to leave a deposit for the permit of 400 usd once you come back you can get your deposit back

you gotta pay a toll at the border, plus you need to get a permit at the same, and if your interested get some insurance coverage

If there is a lien on it, you will need a letter from the bank.
