It's too big to move, so I imagine it's being preserved right where it is.

There is no chance to preserve Mt St Helen's. It is a very active volcano. It caused utter devastation when it erupted killing every living thing and flattening trees for miles around. For that reason people are kept out of the area.

Now it has awoken from it's slumber it will erupt again. That is unlikely to be such a fierce event but it will in all probability erupt several times in the coming years.

It is building a dramatic looking lava dome and there are minor earthquakes suggesting lava is rising within to build and fill the magma chamber.

Mt St Helen's will dictate what happens to the area. Man is quite powerless to do anything!
