Every year, I start, round about January, looking for a good present for Christmas for the sister I truly love. Every year I find myself, now, panicking! Previous to this year I've been on my own because I didn't have a computer, let alone the internet.
I'm, again, at a loss, and maybe you guys/girls can help me out.
We are both in our early 60's, and I can't (though I'd really like to) spend more than about £100.

Sorry I can't be specific - we've had a long relationship during which I've been through the gamut ( I think). I usually end up with a panic buy, and it is ALWAYS received in a wonderfully gracious way, but I always think I might have done better!!

The older you get the less rubbish you want, I've decided. I've banned all ornaments, jewellery (I never wear it) or anything that isn't practical and I can use. This year I've asked for a pepper and salt electronic mill, some socks, a rosebush and that's about it. I really don't want anymore.
However surprise presents I would be glad to have are tickets to a show, gift vouchers for the movies, a set of books (check www.thebookpeople for good bargains and ideas). I also wouldn't mind a voucher to a smart hairdresser or a manicure. For an elderly relative I found her favourite perfume from her younger days and spent ages tracking it down. (She didn't appreciate my efforts and it's not something you can tell her.)

I wish I knew what gifts you have given to her in the past, so that I know your taste in gifts. If you always spend that amount of money, you are a very generous brother. What does she like? What does she enjoy doing? Does she like art? music? travel? You haven't given us anything to help us answer your question. But here are some possibilities:
1. Go to an antique shop and buy her some beautiful antique jewlery
2. Buy tickets to a play and treat her to a night on the town
3. Do something fun and adventurous together, something that you have never done before, such as taking a lesson in ballroom dancing, or kayaking, or ?
4. Contact friends and family members from the past and arrange a surprise dinner party for her
5. Go to gift shops online and browse -- you might see the perfect gift.
Good luck.

Hi;
If you are looking for shawls or bedspreads or rugs then www.harmonyhandloom.co.uk has something original and quality to offer as every piece is designer.
A friend recommended this site to me and I have to say the quality is outstanding. I also got a good postage rate overall and am happy with my product and the service.
