Because you gave it when "YOU" wanted it...it was a gift...marriage ends...she gets to keep it...end of story...

Usually a wedding ring is given as a gift that is symbolic of the commitment and love that you both would supposedly have for each other.
If she didn't want the marriage, she shouldn't have said yes to the ring. You, however, should be the bigger person and let her keep it and maybe down the road when she finds it in her jewelry box, she might remember you and wish she was back in your arms.
In the case of the woman giving back the ring, I don't think it would be "unethical" for you to accept it. But you shouldn't ask for it back, unless it was in your family for generations or something like that. You both should try to discuss the issue with each other (if possible) whether either one should keep each others rings and then formally exchange or agree to keep each others gifts.

Is this a personal question? Ya sound a little bitter.... Why? She may have wanted the marriage in the beginning. People change, situations change...... Why would the man want the ring back anyway? To give to somebody else? Unless it is a family heirloom from his side of the family, he has no right to ask for it back. Every story has 2 sides, and some stories just don't have happy endings. The last thing a man should be worried about is getting his wedding ring back, he should be concentrating on healing from a bad marriage, and looking to the future, and not bickering over petty trinkets from the past. Just my opinion...

Hate to tell you Mr, but men keep them too!!
Most men, but not all, have wedding bands when they are married. But when the marriage fails and it ends in devorce
there's no such thing as RE-exchanging rings, (giving back).
They both usually keep their rings, what they do with them?
who knows, or really cares at that point.
I guess the last thing on ones mind when seeking devorce is
'the rings'.

How did the court docket enable him wreck out with all that? If it replaced right into a broken engagement i might say supply them returned. yet because it quite is a divorce she has a ideal to maintain them. besides the fact that in the event that they seem to be a family heirloom. He wasn't precisely questioning approximately family whilst he replaced into banging his chick on the edge now replaced into he? guess his mom might roll over in her grave. what's to declare the FIL will relatively save them aside and could no longer hand them over to his son returned for the subsequent marriage? save the jewelry. sell them and pay off lots of the debt he left her. Or be quite nasty and say he can purchase them off her. Then they the two win. She gets lots of the money she desires to therapy the placement HE left her in -- and he gets his fathers worthwhile jewelry returned.

I guess its because the wedding ring is considered a gift to the bride, and its usually socially unacceptable to ask for something back. It would be like indian-giving. Is it right? That's up for debate, but that's the tradition.

Well, did you want to trade? You get her ring and she gets yours?

She gets to keep it because it's hers. She owns it. The ring is her property. The only time you should get the set back is IF it was a family heirloom.

The courts always favor the BIATCHES.
I had to give both the rings to the biatch, which i though was odd, because she left.
Judge Judy agrees with you and I they are conditional on the marriage.
I didnt want to contest the agreement because thats all she wanted....if you havent given them up, i suggest you take the diamond out and replace it with a fake. Use the money to have fun at a nudiy bar

Look at all the answers all the dumb broads have here, and you can see where women's heads are at nowadays.
I agree with you 100%
Look at the bright side, at least you dont have to put up with stupid a@@ anymore.

What women are you talking about your ex WIFE? That is between you and HER but don't generlize/stereotype ALL women based upon YOUR poor choices of them. WHY do they get to keep the ring? Because the husband gets to keep his and they are considred "marital assets". It is an equitable split...don't like it? Too bad.

Oh please! my husband couldn't buy me enough rings to compensate me for putting up with his *** and if we do divorce straight to the pawn shop I will go.Good thing he's is smart enough to never ask a stupid *** question like that or we would be divorced already.BUT if it is a family heirloom she should give it back or keep it for daughter resulting out of that marriage.
