It seems like sending Christmas cards is a slowly dying tradition. Very few people mail out cards anymore. My mom used to get so many cards at Chrismas she used to string them from corner to corner in the livingroom as decoration for everyone to read. Now days people only mail cards to the people that have mailed them out first. almost as a return favor. Our society is turning into Grinches. We use the excuse that we are too busy but sadly I hear all the time that people have lost the "Holiday Spirit" What we are losing is the good old traditions. Making way with the easy internet fix. When you delete the e-card what have you got to remind you that someone cared enough to send a card? The same with gift giving. You give gifts because you care, not because someone got you something so you have to give in return. Merry Christmas. Send someone you haven't heard from in a while a Christmas card and remind that person that they are special to you.

I still send and receive about 40-50 cards each year. I continue sending cards every year, because this is the only communication I have with some of these friends, who might live all the way across the country. We enjoy sending and receiving cards with letters and pictures in them. Some of the cards I send/receive are from people I used to know when I was a little girl and they are now in their 90's. I think they enjoy getting my cards as much as I enjoy getting theirs. It is the thoughtfulness that counts when sending cards. Some of the elderly especially look forward to Christmas, because they get cards from people they don't ever see anymore, for one reason or another. I will continue to send cards as long as my hands are still able to write.

I have never hear of christmas cheer..but people are coming up with new things all the time..as for how many cards I receive each year varies from year to year..usually between 10 and 12, but I think they are all sincere, even the ones that come out in mass mailings..cause it means someone or something is thinking about me..hope this answers it for you..take care...peace to you and yours...and Merry Christmas..

First of all it's the thought that counts. In today's busy world you should feel honored someone took the time and the stamp to wish you well this holiday season.
I send out about 40 Christmas letters regarding what my family has been doing over the past year and I enclose photos -- most people say they really look forward to receiving it every year. I get about 25-50 cards in return and truly enjoy each and every one.

I send out about 50-60 Christmas cards a year. Last year I hand made them. I receive around the same. I enjoy giving and receiving them. I love to open them and see what different kinds of cards I get. We have a large living room with a large entry way into our dining room and I hang them all around the door way...both sides are usually filled up.
I had never heard of Christmas cheer until tonight. I'll have to check it out but I won't replace the traditional card giving.
