Hi - just wondering if it's normal for your stomach to bloat when pregnant? I'm sitting at work and my stomach all of a sudden went really hard and balloon sized and it's really uncomfortable - really sharp pains and I can't stand up and since thats happened i've got even worse pains shooting up my shoulder and neck - I'm about to start rolling on the floor.

I can't believe people are all "go to the hospital asap!!"...seriously, it sounds like major gas pains, that's all. I bloated like CRAZY during my pregnancy...ugh! It's definitely annoying and even painful at times...very uncomfortable to say the least.

However, I do think it'd be a good idea to just call your doctor or nurse and ask them what they think about this. I'll bet it's JUST gas, but just to be sure. And especially if it gets worse or is accompanied by any new or worse symptoms and lasts longer than a day or two.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

You're much more likely to have gas pain and bloating during pregnancy because of hormones that slow your digestion and the pressure of your growing uterus on your stomach and intestines but i would call your doctor now any way

It may as well just be gas like everyone is saying. If it gets to painfull or you just want be sure you and the baby are ok check into the ER after work or call your OBGYN first thing in the morning.

If it is gas pains - lie on your left side and try and relax . Do it in a private place, because the gas has to - er - be released.

This happened to me during my first pregnancy... they turned out to be gas pains. Still you should speak with your obgyn

You should call your doctor....
But, it sounds like bad gas....pushing on your diaphragm....when that happens, it refers to your shoulder, and it hurts.

But, it could be something else...check with the obgyn.
