Knee procedure.?
I think what I am having is called an Arthroscopy. I have subluxed knee caps, plica band syndrome and cartilage damage. Has anyone else had this done? If so what happens? The doctor told me he planned on doing it by putting me out with gas (is that going under?) how long does it take to recover?

Thanks

Yes, that's going under. When you undergo arthoscopy, the doctor inserts a scope in your knee to visualize the structures around the knee. The scope is usually attached to a TV monitor/computer inside the OR for documentation purposes. Before, arthroscopy was basically diagnostic only but nowadays, some surgeries on the knee structures can also be done through the scope. Some surgeons even do the procedure under local anesthesia only. Don't worry. If your doctor is good, nothing to worry about.
