I just started looking for a new job, I'm 32 yrs old, Latina and pretty curvy body (not trying to sound big headed), I'm a singe mom, so I’m looking for a good paying and interesting job. It seems like any male mgrs at interviews don’t bother to look at my resume, they go ahead and offer me the position. I like to think I have a good head on my shoulders, but im starting to wonder if I should just apply for a way paying position, even if I don’t have all the experience they want, and go for it....I know that if I am trained once, I will catch on...but is it wrong to do this?

Some righteous person will likely tell you it's wrong. However, I have been fighting all my life to get equal pay and it's still pretty skewed. I say go for it.

Let me get this straight---they hire due to looks? Pretty shallow place---if you don't mind that atmosphere, then go to work---BUT KEEP YOUR DIGNITY. I work with plenty of good looking people, but that's not all that's involved...they are quite qualified. NEVER give anyone an opportunity to lower your standards. Remain a woman at all times. Saavy women just naturally know how to exude what it takes to capture the attention of customers but not the co-workers. Take the opportunity to observe and absorb what's going on in the company---maybe you can offer suggestions or work enhancing adjustments---let them know you have a brain. Dress down at work---just for a little while---Tasteful but plain----remember--be nice to everyone but keep your distance-----keep your mouth shut and keep it all on a higher level---you will be treated according to how YOU act. Talk like a truckdriver or a ghetto slug and that's what you will be treated as. Be known for your work performance, be proud---then go home and take care of your family. Have a nice life and good luck. Oh---by 45 you won't have to worry about this stuff....enjoy your youth.

At the risk of not answering the question asked, I'm not going to get into whether or not this is "wrong" - to each his or her own. That said, you almost certainly do not want to get a job this way, because I can tell you that you will not want to work for the manager that hires you because of your looks. And whether or not your assumptions about their motivations are correct, you also don't want to work for someone who did not read your resume or interview you effectively.

ITs not wrong to take a job if they offer it, but just dont let the managers take advanteage of you. Do your job, but maybe dress professionally, and dont let them get away with anything. make sure that they see you as an employee, not a nice peace of @ss.

Would you really want to work for somebody who hires you because of your big baps? Think about it...
