I posed a similar question before the ashes started suggesting the English cricket team will lose the series - because evidence has shown the typical English sports team is only good for 1 world beating effort every 50 years in their respective sport, for example Football World Cup win way back in the 1960's

I believe this is due to arrogance and finding an excuse for their failures rather than looking at themselves in the mirror

I predict they will lose both the Ashes, & the Rugby World Cup in the next 12 months

They couldn't handle the pressure, they do have a good team and showed they could play the first 4 days, but crumbled in the end. It shows how Australia never gives up, which is why they played so well the past year since the last Ashes loss, while England didn't.

After the first innings it seemed obvious that the match would be drawn. It was an accepted idea and England played for a draw. However, Australia always play to win, and they did. Character and the attitude of no surrender and haveagoyamug. That's the difference

As an English team nears victory the mere thought of winning shocks them so much that to avoid cardiac arrest they are forced to lose in the most impressive manner available. If Flintoff had had his way he'd have been struck by lightening but as the weather was uncooperative he was forced simply to play unwise shots.

Second innings collapse of Engand was inexplicable. I feel they went too much on the defensive and allowed Australian Bowlers to dominate as a resut of which could not put much runs on the Board. When Australia started their 2nd innings, England bowlers miserably failed to contain them.

The best form of defense is a great offense and lets face it England attacked for four days then they tried to get defensive and go for a draw by trying to defend, when this didn't work they panicked and disintegrated.

Well if you are looking for intrigue then the Aussies have invented a way to make the pitch do whatever they want but if you want a straight answer then I will say that they had no answer against Warne's bowling, he was superb. Hat's off to Aussies they are truly the world's best cricket team.

Over Confidence, from the 1st Inning in their batting, and underestimating the 2 old war horses in the shape of Shane and Glen.

... I think when they were trying to Draw the match as oppose to winning it outright!

Go Aussie!!!!!

Because they are crap. To be honest it is the minority in the UK who are genuinely interested in cricket especially test matches. Most are more concerned with our soccer. Cricket is not perceived as the sport of the working classes.
