Either on the "Northside"(north of Madison St) or the "Southside"(south of Madison St).
Michigan AV is 2 short blocks east of State St which divides the city between East and West. The area between State St and the lake is very narrow and the term Eastside is not used North and is only used on the very far South part of Chgo.
Since Michigan is so close to State St, I would refer to the location as either on the "Northside" or "Southside."

It's on both the North and the South Sides, as it runs from North to South. However more of it is on the South Side, because Lake Michigan cuts it off somewhere around Old Town. The most famous part of it, the "Magnificent Mile," is on the Near North Side, starting just north of the river by the Wrigley Building and going up to the Gold Coast by the Drake Hotel.
As the poster above said, "East Side" is not a term in Chicago directional parlance. It's used to refer to a specific neighborhood on the far South Side along the lake near the Indiana border. Michigan Ave is east of State Street, the north/south avenue of orgin on the city grid (Madison is the origin point running east/west). Michigan Avenue's address is 100 E.

Michigan avenue the street runs from north side to south.
If your talking about the Magnificent Mile (shops and John Hancock building), then North side, not far from downtown/the Loop.
