Specifically, from Oregon to NY. Any personal experiences? Advice? How easy would it be to transfer? How long would this take?

I just did some research online..it seems easy to move with SSD, but what about with SSI? What about for someone who gets their rent paid for in addition? Will that be transferable?

Well,.. your still in the United States. Don't expect any funding to move. Expect people to whine at you in the government " But why can't you stay heeerrree?"

You'll have to go to your local Social Security stuff and find the right place to go to that deals with payments (changes to payments that you have to set up,.. it will be a place with windows instead of a place where you talk to people incharge of your case). They may tell you to fill out forms now or wait until your at your new residence then fill out forms and give it to them,. or you may have to fill out the forms and submit them (hand them over to) the people at the same kind of place only in the area/county your moving to. Most of the time they will dispute that whatever you heard is wrong and all kinds of garbage because they are lazy pains (well only the ones in my area,.. it's a county to county,.. area to area thing) >.<

If your seeking Rental or Utlities Assistence you will want to look into things like Hud, Subsidized Houseing, and Section 8. Most of those here have you pay 1/3 the money you receive but some programs will pay all your utlities. Some ouseing have a cap to the most they can make you pay rent and most have a limit to how much money you can make per year.

Added: I know online exsist but with the idiots in some of the County/Area you need to physically be there and make them change things and aware you are a real living being that physically is there.

Added2: It depends on who or what is paying your Rent. It's just to give warning before you move. Maybe you need some new case managers in NY. There are some on a few levels,.. you will need you SSI (and any other sources of assistence) Cases transfered to New People in New York. These people are supposed to have you visit periodicly (maybe only once every three years) to check up on things and recalculate things (some times you suddenly have more coverage for certain things and they are supposed to explain some things to you).

Social Security is FEDERAL. Contact your local office and ask how you can transfer your monthly earnings to a new state and address etc. They can be very helpfull. You mihgt be able to do it online. Good Luck.

Yes. I moved online. :)
Though I was just moving down the street, I don't see what difference it would make.
