The difference between DVI and VGA are subtle, but you see the difference if you compare side-by-side. Whites and other colors are brighter. The image is sharper on the DVI, where VGA is a little fuzzy.

If you have a DVI on your video card and monitor, then buy a DVI cable. It should cost you $10.

Yes, it does make a difference but it is one that a normal person will not notice. I spent a lot of money on a DVI cable only to find out that the change in the display was very minimal. I think it depends on what you are looking for. Before you spend the money, see if you can get a loaner from a friend to try it out. Good Luck.
