Is men getting their heads shaved a fashion now?

I was shocked when I first saw him with his beautiful hair on his head shaved off!!!!
When I asked why he did so he says it is a fashion these days and says more and more girls prefer this style on men.
My 25 year old daughter seconded him.She says men look cool with a smooth head.Same is the case with most of his friends who are girls. They just seem to enjoy running their hands over his shaved head.

I keep asking him to grow his hair back but no body else support me.

I dont really see anything that is so cool in it.I our times men used to lose their sleep just because they are balding, and now I hear men love to go bal (by choice). Is it a generation gap?

I just want to know what is it in a shaved look that makes it so look cool(so called!!) and what is it that is making girls go crazy about such looks?

This queston has been lingering in my mind since my son got his head shaved.Hope I can get some clarity here :)

Hi,

I'm 21 and I find that kinda strange. Of course everyone has their own preferences and I know some chicks like shaved heads but honestly I had no idea it was a trend. I think it takes confidence for a balding man to shave his head, but that's entirely different.

Oh well all I can say is just be glad he's not doing something more permanent like tattooing himself.

Yes, it is a fashion now. Many young men are choosing to shave their heads, not because of hair loss, but because many musicians and other celebrities are doing it. And if a celebrity does it, then their fans copy the look, no matter how outrageous or conservative.

I honestly don't have any idea about what makes it desirable to girls. Personally, I don't find it attractive on young men, only the older ones who have a real reason to do so. But it's a matter of personal taste, like any other look.

It's a fad he's into right now, and eventually, he'll get tired of it, and grow his hair back. The best thing you can do is sit back, and let him figure it out on his own. While a mother never stops worrying about her child(ren), when they are adults, you have to stand aside and let them make their own decisions. Just remind him to put sunscreen on his scalp when he's going out with an uncovered head, and wear a hat when it's cold.

Everyone has their own preference. I myself like guys with some hair on their heads. My boyfriend is 24, and he has to have a high and tight where he is in the Marines. He isn't very fond of it and complains about how his hair takes forever to grow and that he's starting to go bald. I really don't think it's a fashion trend, and most girls I know prefer guys with hair on their heads. And, most guys I have seen around my college's campus have hair anywhere from short to long. Maybe it's just a fad in the area you live in.

Of course, it depends on the man. I have a military husband and when he was in the reserves he had it shaved for a while. I thought it was cute! It looked very good on him.
I don't, however, think its a "fashion" trend. I see just as many men out there with long hair as I do with bald heads. I think its the preference of the man.

Yes, it's in fashion. Unless there are other things happening that indicate gang or skinhead affiliation, there's nothing to be concerned about. Take a look around at pop culture...lots of celebrities are shaving their heads. Athletes are among many where you see shaved heads...basketball, tennis, soccer...it's everywhere.

Don't panic...there's nothing wrong with the bald look. I'd rather see that than a combover!

I am 18 year old college girl a number of boys in my college have shaved their heads. It looks cool. It is the inthing. He can always grow hair if he wants to nothing to worry about. Instead buy him some new clothes and things that suit your son's new look. All the best

It depends upon that person to go for a certain fashion or not.
I think it is a fashion to shave the head.
Even some of my RICH friends have done hairless skin on certain area of body like chest, Hands, Stomach, etc. with the help of Lazer technology. They have spend more than Rs.50,000/- each on it for complete and permanent removal of hair. "Modern girls prefer this", they say!!...

Well it really depends on the person.

I generally like long hair, and shaved heads only suit certain people.

If you are going bald I think the most dignified thing to do is shave your head. Even with little stubble it can look quite nice.

see if u say that it doesn't look cool to you so,it is ur thinking bcoz may b at ur time u never seen it as a fashion,
but the truth is that now a days every one wants to look unique from others, always want to do something new who never done it, but to get shaved on head is not a new but it is unique and may be ur son thinks that he looks smart in shaved head..so,he can change his hairstyle only when he vil realise that now may be he get bored or he think that he is looking odd.
if u still have a que that is it fashion so i need to tell u that 45% boys love it as a fashion..

Meh, I personally prefer guys with hair. Some guys may have big beautiful piercing eyes and the shaved head makes them stand out more, but I still like a guy with at least some hair. Of course, I wouldn't *not* date him if he didn't have any. Everyone has their turns ons and preferences.
