SETI is Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence
The organization downloads thousands of radio waves from space. SETI@Home is a "distributed software" package that sends your computer some of these radio waves to analyze in its spare time to see if there are any signs of patterns etc that may indicate intelligence.

I knew that SETI meant Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, so it was just a matter of putting in SETI@Home, and I got this:
