I have had the same thing, (3 times!!!) and I would have to say that it is due to the exam. If you experience any heavy cramping or bleeding go to the hospital. Most of the time it is nothing to worry about but I would say that if you are personally concerned, call the o.b. unit at the hospital, they are more than likely to tell you to come in anyway just in case but they may be able to let you talk to the r.n. on duty and they may ease your mind a bit without having you make the drive. If that doesn't help, call your doctor first thing in the morning and schedule an appointment. You are so close that as long as the baby is still moving, you are fine. Good luck and congrats!!!

If the discharge was getting lighter as the day went on, I would have said don't worry about it. But since it's becoming thicker, call the doctor. Immediately.

Also, everyone's body is different. You can talk to someone who had 20 babies. Your experience may not be like hers. When in doubt, call the hospital. I didn't even see any of my mucus plugs. I couldn't tell you what they looked like. My water broke first every single time (3).

At this time in the pregnancy, miscarriage is unlikely, so don't be scared. It is probably due to the exam.

At 38 wks, the labour ward is expecting you at any time. If you're that worried, drop by labour ward- tell them whats happened, and they should be able to do an ultrasound and/or check the babies heart rate to see if she/he's ok and not too distressed, and that should give you piece of mind. You need it. It's not good to stress in pregnancy.

I am not a doctor but it sounds like your mucus plug. Your doctor also my have striped your membranes during your exam.
Best of luck, and relax you are going to have this little one real soon and then the worrying and sleepless nights will begin.

Yes, having a pelvic exam that late in the pregnancy could cause that brown spotting.

Call the doc tonight. They don't care if you call. That is how they make their money. They will reassure you, or tell you to get to the hospital!

Baby is almost here! Congrats!

yeah i remember those exams. Since your really close to your due date i am almost positive your slowly shedding your mucus plug. If it was the exam your blood would have been fresh not brown. I remember when my mucus plug came out, it was hideous. It was brown blob. Relax your really close. Congratulations, and god bless!

It could be from the exam or it could be mucus. Parts of my mucus plug were brown. If it's gooey than that's probably what it is. I wouldn't worry as long as you aren't having contractions.

well since you have a bladder infection your urine is going to be discolored for awhile until the infection goes away. it does not have to do with being pregnant. if the doctor gave you antibiotics it will change the color of the urine, no need to get worried it will soon be all over. in the mean time, keep you area clean, no douching, and your infection will be gone. just take care of yourself and drink plenty of water.

It probably is from the exam as long as you have no cramping or heavy bleeding everything should be ok. But if you still don't feel right call your doctor and have him/her tell you what you should do.
