Well we always make New Years resolutions and soon forget them- so I am thinking many people scramble to try to fill that resolution from this year, before the new yr begins again and they have to make a new one.
One of the biggest resolutions is diets, so to me I always scramble to lose a few pounds which in Jan I said I would lose.Come Dec ( Gasp) I remember it but realize what a waste of time that is with all the holiday parties and all the food galore. LOL

Living in Florida, I scrambled to buy one of those 20 dollar lotto tickets ( that will be drawn in Jan and make a couple dozen of us rich) before they sold out, which they did.
Also, I scramble to stores to buy myself things I needed all year because the items are 50 to 75% less than they are the rest of the year.

My only thought is spending time with extended family. Or how about firewood? I don't really know, but I'll be interested to see your answer.
