XLI

X=10
L=50
I=1

if X is before L, then you subtract the amount that X is from L ... 50-10=40. Any roman numeral afterwards is added ... 40+1=41

SB XLI = Super Bowl 41

The Roman Numerals are the year of the sport....irregardless of the sport.
Example: X= 10 V=5 ===XV = 15
I = 1 XVI = 16
C= 50 so....XXCCVI = 126th

I think this is right. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sorry if I am wrong.
Take care.

I guess you're asking why. It's because the superbowl is played in a different year than the season. When you look back at a past team like the '94 49ers they are the 1995 superbowl champions. It's just to make it clear.
