What you want to persuade listeners to do is recognize that OCD is a condition that can be relieved with medication, and people who suffer from it are not crazy or weird. Think about the results you want: recognize the condition and get medical help. Don't ostracize people who suffer from it. I guess the main theme you want to structure your talk around would be tolerance.

persuasive speech, hmmm. How about persuading the people that ocd is something that everybody has, but some are life disrupting while others are not. Like workaholics are ocd, or professional athletes, or anything that can be interpreted as such. Its the people that have ocd that helps society but requires that attention and focus that ocd have. Brain surgeons are brilliant people, but couldn't be without having some level of ocd to be able to understand or have the time to understand the brain to point where they can cut someones head open and operate on it.

well..take a shot like this.....compare OCD with the generally acceptble high attention to detail....then look into how OCD is treated.....and public policy on medical assistance in this area. once you have the facts, argue for more funding

perhaps you can persuade them to research and become familiar with the symptons, and then encourage them to help others understand how it can be handled, should they ever have the opportunity to help someone suffering from it.
