Well, the water shouldnt be more than 2" deep at the MOST. make sure that you watch him, and that he isnt in the water for to long. if the water isnt clean, dont let him in it. make sure it is only chlorinated water. if you are fantasizing about a nice swin in the pool with your buddy slithers, dont.

A ball python is able to swim, but they do not enjoy it. They are heavy-bodied snakes designed for land travel and are not really cut out for the water. If you put him in deep water he will swim, but he will go for the nearest object that will allow him to climb out.

If you intend to soak him due to a bad shed or something, you need no more than about 2 inches of water, and you'll need something rough like a towel or a large rock or stick for him to rub on.

In any case make sure the water is lukewarm to the touch. Too hot or too cold is very bad for the snake.

You can put your snake in water about 1 to 2 inches deep, make sure it is warm-NOT HOT OR COLD. He will swim around and hold his head above the water. Do you not have a container of water in his cage? You should because they need water just like everything else.
I used to put my 2 ft long ball python in our bathtub and let it swim around. It is good exercise, its good for their skin and they seem to like it. I have also done this with iguanas.

i have a Cloulombian red tail boa and i do that to. just fill the tub up barely enough so she cant touch bottom and put like a rock or something at one end incase she does get tired. but she should be fine. but i leave my snake in for about 45minutes to a hour in WARM water like she said if it gets cold at a little more warm water in. but my snake loves the water wnad i plaay and mssage her and everything its kinda cool like a bonding experince so it should be ok. also like she said keep a water bowl in the aquarium big enough for her to soak in and keep clean water in there everyday most snakes love it and they need it. If you want you can chat with me online Doomman6@yahoo.com either email me or instant message ill help all i can i love to talk about snakes.

Snakes are usually fine in water but make sure it is not too deep, and don't leave it unattended as although they are usually fine, they can drown.
