I usually do not shop at walmart for big items or clothing, but will do a quick stop for little things like dog food, a gallon of milk, you get the idea. well tonight i went there to grab a few things. I do not know if all walmarts do this, but mine does checks elec now. so i give the girl my check and expect everything to go ok as usuall. than in a very loud voice she says " you just wrote me a bad check" I was like WTF? I have more than enough money in the bank to cover it. I tired to reamin calm and asked if i could call my bank real quick before they took my cart away. i wanted them to know that there was money in the account. she said no and that i should know better than to write bad checks ( i have never bounced a check) so i just leave and call the 24 hr bank thing. they said there was no way that my check should have been turned away. I tell you what. i am so sick of walmart. I am never going back there.

target is much nicer and helpful, plus they are cleaner and easier to find things. all in all target > wal-mart.

With credit cards, & debit cards, & cash available to just about everybody out there. Why are you writing checks to make a store purchase? I hope you took back the check from the store, you know anybody who has a copy of one of your checks has valuable information about your Bank account. If the store still has that check, I would go back & take up the whole issue with the store manager.

Meanwhile try to figure this one out. I was Christmas shopping, & found a nice top for my wife in a small Boutique in one of the big shopping malls. I went to pay for the purchase with cash. It was a Fifty, & the store wouldn't take it, said it might be counterfeit.
I said this is proper currency from the Bank, & they refused it.
So I walked out, & left the purchases I picked out on the counter.
I think all of retail is getting a little rediculous.

Honey, its dependent on if they use telecheck or this other company called Certegy. I tried to buy furniture and thank God my parents went with me because they said that my check for like $1100 was not going to go through. I had more than enough money in the bank. My bank verified. But because Certegy didn't have enough history on me, they denied my check at the furniture store, as well as Libby Lu in the mall for $40. It also happened to my brother, who is in college when he tried to buy a phone at Cingular. My parents had enough "history" so their check went through. Don't kill Walmart- it's probably that third party check verification service. Believe me, I know how you feel!!! What you should do is call the company that "verified" your check and also call your bank and have them talk to the company too. That should not happen.

I would go back once -- to talk to the manager. Management needs to know about this screwup, and may give you some sort of goody for reporting it. Ideally, you would have called for the manager on the spot. Personally, I seldom shop at Wal-Mart -- there is none close by -- and always use cash or a credit card. I don't much like to write checks.

I cannot stand walmart. I used to love the store. But after trying to get a job there and being turned down at least three times i couldn't stand it anymore. We used to have a store that was opened from 7-10 or something like that now we have a supercenter. i tried to get hired for that one...and nope they didn't want me either. and they have so many checkouts and maybe three open!!
i'll go in there with my mother, father or a friend but i don't but a thing. I go to every store in my town to find a certain item. if i cannot find it, i wait to go to another town thats about half an hour away.
I even told everyone that i do not want any gifts for christmas from there. and that they won't get any from their either.

The people who shop there sometimes look a bit scraggley, which is a difference for some. Others dislike it's monopoly over the natural retail market, over say Target and the like.

I have never had any problems with Walmart, I actually shop there a lot. However, if a similar situation had happened to me, I would never shop there either!!
Maybe you should contact customer service to make complaint

walmart just build a new store close to me, but I've been totally satisfied with their service. The clerks are very friendly and nice and respectful. I can't say anything bad about them.
Sorry you had a bad experience, and I would have been angry also.

Relax a lil bit use a debit card. I don't think they just took away your cart without actually trying the check more than once. Obviously something was wrong with your check or your account. I don't think it's Walmart. Why didn't you just go to the atm?

Seems to be the status quo there. They're paid enough just to have a pay check. They aren't paid enough for luxuries like politeness.

You should have reported this girl to the manager. Regardless of the store no manager wants a cashier that will offend it's customers.
