Even though I'm not a man - a deluge of magazine subscriptions foisted on me by my well-intentioned (but uninformed) man including things like Stuff, Esquire, Newsweek, etc. leads me to offer my opinion on this subject.

Esquire has some really hard-hitting, timely and important articles. They even had a reporter imbedded with government contractors way back at the beginning of the Iraq war (remember when the "insurgents" attacked, killed and maimed the bodies of those 7 contractors and we were all appalled at the brutality?) right around that time) it was very enlightening. And they have ads for nice clothes. And they just finished a series of teasers on the sexiest woman in the world, so you get a little bit of classy skin once in a while, if you like that sort of thing.

They are all pretty similiar..although some at least try to aim at a readership above the standard frat-boy level. There is a British magazine called "Arena" which is pretty classy and much better than most..but it still has all the usual photos of girls in lingerie and a million adverts for cologne and watches..all of which gets kind of tiresome pretty quickly.

I've stopped buying them and started reading books now! I guess I just got bored with all those repetitive articles and being told by self-appointed experts whats cool or not. In the end, you just grow up and dont care about that any more. They aren't really "mens magazines", more llike "boys and young guys magazines"

Esquire - great articles, chick advice, fashion, humor, fiction. It's a great magazine for those looking for something more than the usual crap. I did the Maxim thing for several years myself and it just gets old after awhile.
